With the acupuncture treatment method, the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems is restored and the oxygen and energy use pathways of the brain are rehabilitated.
What is migraine?
It comes in bouts of varying frequency. It is a very severe and sharp headache that usually affects one half of the head. Light, sound, intense smells, excessive activity, sadness, change in sleep patterns, smoking, alcohol, menstrual period or blood pressure. The rise or fall in the may start by triggering one or more of the stimuli such as some foods (with tyramine content).
Severe pain may be accompanied by changes in blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. A pain attack can last from part of a day to a few days. In migraine pain, pain relievers are not effective enough to eliminate the pain completely.
How is it formed?
Despite this 40 – to-one ratio, the brain uses about 6-7 of the total energy used by the whole body. In other words, our brain consumes 6-7 times more energy than the rest of our body.
While other cells of our body can use almost anything as a source of energy, brain cells cannot produce energy using fats, proteins or anything else. The only form of energy used in brain tissue is glucose.
Our brain, which is extremely sensitive to heat and needs balanced and regular conditions to function properly, has no contact with the external environment. On the contrary, the bone is in a container. It is also surrounded by two layers of thick sheath and one layer of thin membrane. Therefore, it is almost impossible for it to be able to meet its needs from the external environment or to remove the heat released as a result of its strong activity by directly throwing it into the external environment.
Especially in situations that require excessive mental activity or when the mind concentrates around an issue, it needs more glucose, which is used as an energy source, and oxygen, and it is sensitive. The avalanche output can increase many times in proportion to the thought.
Continually supplying and cooling the energy needed by the brain can only be provided by blood supply, hence the vascular system. For this reason, the slightest slowdown or disruption in the circulatory system will mean a slowdown in the energy and oxygen flow needed by the brain. The removal of the heat will also be disrupted at the same rate.
The temperature increase in the brain tissue results in enlargement of the vessels. At the same time, the abundant amount of carbon dioxide, which is released as a result of excessive activity, also supports vasodilation. This enlargement in the veins initially results in the slowing down of the blood flow. The feeding of brain cells and the removal of waste materials are disrupted. In this case, a blunt and generalized pain occurs.
The substances released in response to this situation constrict the capillaries and especially raise the small (diastolic) blood pressure. This rapid change leads to the formation of sharper, more pronounced and regional pain compared to the previous pain.
This is the description of tension – type headaches. When this situation is repeated, the formation of pain is facilitated. Migraine, on the other hand, is the name of the period when this picture reoccurs and starts to become sharper and more continuous.
Can it be treated?
With the acupuncture treatment method, the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems* which are two different macro-reflex systems of the body, is restored and the oxygen and energy use pathways of the brain are rehabilitated.
The method we use is the auricular acupuncture method, which modern medical doctors noticed and developed while working on traditional methods. This treatment method has gained a unique place among modern treatment protocols as an easy and permanent treatment for migraine disease. A period of 4-6 weeks from 2-3 sessions a week is sufficient for full recovery.

* Sympathetic system: It is the name given to the whole of a series of nervous system reflexes that prepare the body for daytime functions. For example, sweating, body temperature regulation, regulation of heart rhythm.
Parasympathetic system: To prepare the nutrients that our day – to – day organs need and to remove the wastes that come out during the day more easily. It is a series of neural arrangements made . Such as the functioning of the kidneys , the liver ‘s cleaning of toxic substances accumulated in the blood, and the completion of the digestive function . Of course, the cleaning and food preparation functions in the body – a city ‘s streets can be cleaned more easily at night when there is no traffic , ovens and catering companies can eat It can be done more comfortably at night, such as working more comfortably in the early hours when the need is not so much .
