Back Pain Treatment by Prolotherapy

Before a hernia occurs, wear and tear often occurs in the surrounding tissues, ligaments surrounding the joint, and facet joints, which are the superficial joints of the vertebra.

When we consider the elements that make up the structure of the spine, we see the following major structures:

1. Vertebra bones
2. Discs located between the large parts of the vertebral bones
3. Facet joints in the areas where both vertebrae meet from the sides
4. Spinal canal
5. Spinal cord hanging downwards in the canal
6. Pairs of nerves coming out of the lateral grooves at the junction of both vertebrae
7. Joint ligaments that tightly wrap and unite the bones

The vertebrae of the lumbar region have large bodies. In addition to being mobile, it can carry loads. The discs are large and the joint ligaments are quite tight. This strong structure can be damaged by heavy sports, an overly active life, and the relatively fragility of the genetic structure. A herniated disc is often a condition caused by excessive wear and tear.

Before the problem reaches this level, wear and tear occurs in the surrounding tissues, the ligaments surrounding the joint, and the facet joints, which are the superficial joints of the vertebra. When the problem is at its initial level, the patient feels pain in different positions, but no herniated discs are seen in the imaging. Even if a hernia is seen, it is quite small.

An initial hernia cannot usually separate from the spinal cord and put pressure on the nerves that emerge from the canals between the vertebrae. For this reason, it is not expected to feel pain in the area or the areas where the nerve is directed. In this case, the pain and limitation of movement are due to the damage to the surrounding tissues.

With prolotherapy treatment, regeneration of peripheral tissues is possible in 3 to 5 sessions before the problem progresses. Treatments are done in sessions. Tissue repair is triggered by stimulation 15 days to 45 days after the first session. In addition, it opens the way for tissues to renew themselves without the need for any operation.
