Yerba Mate, Ilex Paraguariensis

It is a plant species from the Holly family. . Its leaves and one-year shoots are used for pleasure or for therapeutic purposes.

Mate is the main beverage drunk similar to tea in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and northern Brazil. The plant contains caffeine and theophylline and theobromine, which are the main xanthin derivatives. The common feature of all of them is that they are stimulating and increase basal metabolism. Stimulants also reduce appetite in general. |stimulating and debilitating effects|
All these common effects are the main reasons why the plant is preferred as a weakening agent.

Useage :
Its traditional use is brewing by pouring very hot water over 1-2 teaspoons of ground dry leaf powder. If there is no habit, drinking more than 2-3 cups a day can cause palpitations, insomnia and arrhythmias.
